Supposedly it works with that one, but it still doesn't work with Android 6.
Nikon wireless mobile utility better update#
It took them almost 6 months to come up with an update and as soon as they did that, Android 5.1 (or whatever the next one was) came out and it stopped working again. When I first got the adapater, I still had 4.4 KitKat and it worked fine with the adapter but even then it was next to useless- it would overheat, only send small jpgs etc.Īs soon as Android 5.0 came out, the app would not connect to the adapter, at all. I have a Nexus phone so I always have the most up to date Android version Currently 6.0.1. I've had it for 3 years and only been able to use it 3 times. My Sony RX-100iii (and even the ii) transfer photos far better We shoukd start hearing reports in about a week.Īnd there will be firmware updates to use it with the D750 & other recent cameras. Hopefully snapbridge on the D500 & DLs will be better. WMU? why don't they call it Nikon WMU so I can search it easily? They can also buy a better icon for $ 1.

Proper tethering would be nice where photos automatically syncs to the device and a computer! Since the latest pro bodies have built in wifi hopefully they make updates along those lines. Yeah, pretty much with the same sentiment as the OP.Īndroid tablets work a little better, but my Note 4 is sporadic at best.Ĭan confirm that connectivity is iffy on android but works fine with iOS. The D750 is not yet "old" and still sells quite well, so I HOPE that they do something about this ASAP, because as it is, it's pathetic. This is probably why Nikon decided to move to Bluetooth for wireless transfer to devices, which is great for the new camera models. I tried to set my phone so that it stops scanning for other WiFi connections, but it hasn't helped at all. I can also control the camera remotely, but that's if the WiFi stays connected.

Maybe the iPhone software is a bit better than Android. Agree with you that for instantaneous transfers, it can be frustrating and the app could use improvement. I like being able to trigger the D750 remotely when the connection is maintained. With the iPhone 6, it is not that elegant, but not as bad as your experience. Maybe there was an update but I didn't see that on the nikon software.

My sony and panasonic allow me to adjust the 3 basic settings: shutter speed/ aperture and iso on the phone. That is what I seem to noticed.Īlso not adjusting all of the camera settings on the phone is lazy programing. The phone will prefer to connect to the home wifi, so it will kick the nikon wifi off, so you might get a better connection in the field then at home. It stay connected easier if you are in a place where your cellphone is not connected to wifi like at home. This is very annoying, but to be frank sony does this too. The app does disconnect quite often, they need to have a option to keep it on even if it drain battery. It works pretty well for me on my iPhone 6? I can even shoot remotely too? just send them when you can.ĭream Source Studio edited this topic 77 months ago. give me 15 minutes, I'll try to sort this out" Oh DAMNIT!!! It disconnected again! Sorry guys. THEM: OK, - 3 minute pause - Did you send it yet?
ME: Yeah, sure, let me connect to my phone. that's an awesome camera! Woah, it has Wifi? Cool! Can you send me that photo you took of us? It looks great!" I just love showing it off to my friends when they want my photos sent to their phones My bar for this app has dropped considerably and this is the absolute least I expect from it. At this point all I want is to just transfer photos to my phone without so many issues. Yeah, that would certainly be nice, but my happiness level would go from 1 out of 10 to 8.5 out of 10 if it would at least connect faster, actually stay connected and allow me to download all the photos I need without disconnecting 5 times during the process. It would be nice if you you could actually change the camera settings as well from the app/phone! It really is a pretty useless app. Why Nikon?! Why are you doing this to us?! I have to force it to do so every single time On top of that, this idiotic app NEVER allows me to shut it down. I've been trying to download photos onto my phone and 10 photos in, the app disconnects, then reconnects and I have to once again download all the thumbnails, select the photos I want downloaded and watch that f*****g app disconnect again. I'm using a Samsung S5 and the WiFi is constantly connecting and disconnecting to the D750. Usually the Japanese are ahead of us in technology, but they can't design a proper WiFi app in the year 2016? It is so incredibly poorly designed and executed! For the love of God, Nikon, put some money into this app and FIX IT!!! I haven't felt this frustrated in ages! This is not what I expect from a Japanese company that prides itself on bringing us quality products. I am so frustrated with the Nikon WMU WiFi app.
